Just 13 miles north of Puerto Montt and beside the Llanquihue Lake, Puerto Varas is known as the “Roses City” because of the incredible amount of rose bushes that embellish its streets. You have to walk Puerto Varas from end to end, admiring the typical German style houses, its modern residential neighborhoods, with beautiful gardens, and visiting the impressive and colourful Jesus Sacred Heart Church, another reason to fall in love with this city founded in 1853 by German and Swiss settlers.
Picturesque and well equipped, Puerto Varas offers hotels, boutiques, lodges and charming hostels. It has a Casino and a wide cuisine range, mainly regional beers, meat, the typical Chilean “lomito” pork meat sandwich. When shopping, you can go around its handicraft shops, gourmet products and aromatic chocolate shops. At night, the city awakens in its bars, pubs and casino.
